I think Doechii is immensely talented, but she just does not seem that original to me. I am very pro-black and I love that she is a dark skinned queen and what she represents, but when I hear her music I hear Nicki Minaj, Azealia Banks and Doja Cat ("What's Your Name) or like generic neo-R&B type singer like Summer Walker ("What It Is Hoe").

And with Azealia Banks brewing and cooking a comeback right now, can she through Doechii's breakthrough show the world that she is the original new age successor and heir to the female rap throne?

Like I wanna love Doechii, but I just have hard time figuring out, who she is, outside of looking, singing and rapping at very high quality and her being someone who is very skilled in research and execution, but creativity, even though she looks ecclectic and creative, feels like it is missing.

It's hard to describe how I feel about her and I feel like this is very close to it. I REALLY like her and feel she's EXTREMELY talented. But every time I really start getting into a direction she's taking, she makes a complete detour and does something else.

At first I thought she was gonna take off being the next R&B bitch, then she switched up and I thought was gonna be the next urban pop "it girl" (which I was DIGGING), then she switched up AGAIN and dropped a deep cut rap album, and NOW the bitch walking around with bundles hanging down to her ANKLES giving trans and the next gay icon at fashion shows and back to promoting that JT song.  I can't keep up....


I feel like Doja does a great job at being very multidimensional (pop, R&B, hip hop) but doesn't feel all over the place. We have an understanding of who she is as an artist.

I feel like I dont know who Doechii is... she jumps too quickly from identity (sound, look, etc.) to identity for us to fully grasp onto something.
