I remember watching and initially thinking the creative direction was groundbreaking.

Looking back at it now... it's not as GRAND as I thought.

Frank Gatson was responsible...

I see you two lack a 🧠.

I said the creative direction from Frank Gatson :uhh: not Beyoncé's actual performance(which was amazing)

Ulysses

This was an incredible event. I remember this is when the whites and right wing people really started to go against her and running with the "Illuminati" mess.

There will never be another

I was aware of what you said. And I said what I said bc I know this is retaliation from the Amerie Tiny Desk mess.

No. This was a random thought.

I've been dragging America and her horrendous Tiny Desk performance in that thread too.  :plzstop:

I had that same experience with this. Rewatching this performance in recent time, it doesn't feel "groundbreaking" anymore, just a great performance.

And I guess in some kinda way, that's a compliment to her because she's outdone herself so many times. Rewatching her self-titled VMAS performance and Beychella, I'm still so moved by it.

This is why I hate "retrospect". Things evolve.  It's like watching "Golden Girls" now and not understanding how ground breaking it was at the time

Marilyn

I just rewatched BET Awards 2006 and was shook. Best performer on earth and not even no close second.

Poor example... cuz I rewatch Gossip Girl every damn year and STILL moved.

i was referring to the creative direction to. at the TIME it was fresh and innovative. we seen it a million times now tho and even more technological advances (the bitch has robots pouring drinks for her on stage) so of course NOW its not gonna hit the same

You done?

Nine

It was good for 2013 Bey, but I wouldn't even rank this in the Top 10 of all her performances.

Queen has really elevated and raised the bar since then.
