Mario and Ciara? One can only hope, as the R&B veteran just gave fans a reason to be excited. The R&B star revealed that he and Ciara are cooking up something special for his upcoming album. The surprise collaboration was announced during his recent sit-down on Drink Champs, where he shared new insight into his music and evolution as an artist.

Here's a look back at last month when Mario and Ciara connected on the BET Awards carpet.

"Me and Ciara are actually working on something together right now" Mario told host N O R E. "It's something fresh and it's a conversation I feel like R and B needs right now. The frequency of the record allows us to speak in ways to the opposite sex that haven't been spoken about in a long time. She's in a different place in her life as a woman and so am I as I'm experiencing love in a different way. We are going to make a classic."

Get this, while Ciara has not commented publicly on the collaboration and neither a release date for the track nor the full project has been confirmed.

Still, Mario's confidence in the song's message and energy has already sparked interest across the culture.

What's more, during the interview recorded in Miami Mario also opened up about his journey from Baltimore to stardom. Raised by a single mother who believed in his voice early on he reflected on the obstacles he faced in the industry. Leaving behind the major label system he revealed he spent four hundred thousand dollars of his own money on an independent release.
