The music industry is dead, streaming is day light robbery for the artists, they get peanuts from it, even if you're independent, Universal owns like 40% of Spotify, so they even get revenue from the independent artists streams....The whole industry needs a reset

And the way they're having radio dictate such a large chunk of the "charts" is absolutely deplorable.

she actually shared some encouraging words for up-and-coming artists
when she spoke to social media algorithms specifically

she's right...it's a lot different now and that's kinda a good thing with the algorithm (for newbies)

i dunno if any of you noticed , but even on YouTube you've probably seen a lot more newer creators pushed in front of you...if you pay close attention.

like... a LOT more videos with like only 56 views being recommended to you and you're wondering "wtf?"

sfksfmsfsfkmfskmsfkfskksfkfs

cuz we had become accustomed to ONLY see established creators recommended to us.
or at least videos with thousands of views already.

these platforms are giving talent a chance to succeed without being hindered by the previous controls that were in place that only pushed already-established creators with massive followings.

so if you actually have talent and are actually entertaining, the way things are set up now...people can get in and not feel as if they're battling pre-existing machines for a spot.

but the flip side is: it's now so saturated with more people being able to play now, that you do really have to stand out and be exceptional in some way to make a dent.

and once you do become an established creator you have to KEEP standing out and pushing cuz you no longer have the luxury of riding on your name/followers like it was in previous years. if you're not pushing engaging content it's not gonna get tons of visibility just cuz you have tons of followers.

there's pros and cons. i think she spoke to both here and it wasn't a "WOE IS ME ! " post.

I'm glad radio still counts for charting cause once that's gone its all streaming and stupid vinyl sales.
