and I think I remember him saying he was about to retire from music or something. Very interesting timing on that
In the back of mind I'm feeling it could all be a cash grab though. It's really easy to believe this man famous Christian pastor who has always struggled with his sexuality, was secretly assaulting young men
Hmmm
i was considering that until I saw the email mentioned
there's only so many ways "im a dirty old man" can be interpreted. if this email was in fact sent by Donnie and it can be confirmed.
that and the timing. the fact that it falls in that pattern of people coming forward years later after accepting that they were taken advantage of.
i think this could be a legitimate claim
yes. It's interesting that the email was sent back in 2013 he says, but he just recently discovered it and that prompted this whole thing
So he better be able to prove that it is a real email coming from Donnie
the email could have triggered him.
especially if Donnie was actually stupid enough to put all this mess in writing
wnewenjnjwnjwe
Quote"I am the actual epitome of a desperate dirty 'old man'," he allegedly wrote in the message, according to the lawsuit, "pawning and groping a young man who is just looking for a friendship and close plutonic relationship with someone he wants looks to for help, guidance and spirituality."
"I feel so foul...so stupid," McClurkin added in the email, according to Corletto's lawsuit, which was filed Friday in state Supreme Court in Manhattan.
wat kinda signed confession .
but it's possible. when someone is overcome by guilt or shame they may not be thinking clearly or strategically. especially if he was drinking or under influence at the time of writing.
also possible Donnie may have assumed his poor lil' "mentee" wasn't capable of mustering up the strength needed to hold him accountable. especially considering this was allegedly sent before the "metoo" era.
predators bank on the perceived weakness of their victims
I would definitely feel triggered to come across something like that
Just the likelihood that he discovered this email from 12 yrs ago? I'm guessing this was an account that doesn't get a lot of other mail that would have buried it over the years
its def possible
ive def come across a relatively important email or two that i missed from YEARS ago
usually when i revisit/search an email i still have access to for nostalgic teas.
now if it were a text sent 10+ years ago id prob have a harder time believing that initially
as u literally get a notification on ur phone with a whole preview of the mess.
sdsddsdssdsdsd
still possible to even miss that but this email story isn't crazy.
it's not impossible it's just throwing a curve ball in the story. I can see maybe 2,3 maybe 5 year old emails just popping up. But 11-12 yr old? Those are usually like, archived or something where you have to actively go and look for them.
Then now in court their going to have to trace the message to an IP address that will hopefully match somewhere Donnie lived or was frequently at back in 2013
Oh this is a mess
if Donnie was using that same email to communicate with this guy well before 2013, it won't be hard at all to reasonably accuse him of sending the incriminating one
the burden of proving Donnie did NOT send them would then be on Donnie's lawyer. they'll have to pull out some creative ass stories to explain it away
now if it's some random gmail that had no known ties to Donnie beforehand, that's a different story.
I bet they're already working on burying this old ass lead. Because anyone can message you from "idefinitelyamdonniemc@aol.org"
He's gonna have to show that those messages came directly from actually Donnie and from wherever Donnie was in 2013
Unless there's video and pictures attached.
it depends Ray
maybe if this was strictly a criminal case the evidence would have to be bulletproof before sending someone to jail
but in a civil lawsuit the burden of proving something is more lax. it really just has to be reasonable
and if this was an email that Donnie was using for years with details like "hey! inviting you to an event next week, here's the address" or "here's my new phone number" or anything else that would reasonably and clearly identify him as the sender of previous emails...
it leaves more than enough room to reasonably conclude he sent that email too.
it would be solid supporting evidence for his story.
common sense wins in a lot of civil lawsuits. there's no being sure "beyond reasonable doubt" ...like before you take away someone's freedom.
