Was he worthy of those accolades?

I know he was nominated for AMA's and won one.

And he did received the Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award as he mentioned.

Was he deserving of more ?

Scott.

I love Sweat.

But it was way too much competition for him in his prime. He was bound to be overlooked.

Justice Jackson

I think he was deserving of more.

I mean he's not the best vocalist and probably the most notorious for "whining" in his era, but he was extremely unique and definitely the moment in the 90s. His overall sound has been sampled, copied and referenced in a lot of ways

Regardless, the late 80s and 90s was the golden age for r&b and it's been thoroughly discussed how extremely talented artists missed out on awards to other talented artists.
Ketanji Jackson has come this far by faith.

Ketanji Brown will still beatcho ass.

Ummmmm I'm not surprised,  he's terrible.  Definitely not surprised at a Grammy.  By the time BET awards came around he was past his prime and none of the music he released deserved an award.  The only award I could see him having is a soul train mess. He was still active and releasing good enough music during the soul train award era
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

Gilgamesh.

I can't say I'm a big fan, but he was pretty popular - like R Kelly for the teeny boppers of the early 90s. but I don't think this is him getting overlooked, there was heavy competition in his era.

FUCK Bey

I kinda see Keith Sweat more as the Jeremiah or Trey Songz of the late 80s/90s.

Big hits, a R&B icon... but idk if they were Grammy worthy. Definitely deserved a soul train or source award mess at least though.

He's never ever been nominated for a Grammy. Now that's crazy. He's at least worthy of a Grammy Nod especially during his Twisted/Nobody era.

Precisely! Like a paula abdul mess. Had some hit songs, sold alot of records(ALOT in Paula's case) but no one is REWARDING the mess or taking it too seriously

That's my point of view as well... the BET Awards' inaugural ceremony was in 2001. By that time, Keith Sweat's prime was over. Even though he's released music since, nothing has charted or been impactful. I do believe that he was nominated for Grammys during his prime but he didn't win... that's life.

I agree with this whole thread. A Soul Train award at max, outside of that idk

Lazarus

He deserves something for pioneering the whole New Jack Swing movement with Teddy.
