this is really a POV for people who put a LOT of value into those white folk award shows

With this logic there are actresses who "surpassed" Angela Bassett at some point simply because they won specific awards before she did

Including Mo'nique winning an Oscar for her role in Precious . Yeah she grabbed the award before Angela but we know she ain't no got damn Angela Bassett

pushing a narrative that Teyana has "surpassed" Regina simply because she has a trophy in hand is jumping the gun, considering we have NO clue how much that will even help Teyana ...(Mo'nique herself said grabbing an Oscar wasn't all its cracked up to be - based on her expectations of what's supposed to happen to your career once you win....versus the reality. while Angela continued to prosper and actually set a record for the highest paid Black actress in film history)

hope this is a turning point for Teyana and I'm sure Regina is happy for her. but yeah

I agree..... Teyanna winning any damn thing is about as meaningful as Kim K winning a damn Oscar. She's in a random brief "it-girl" cycle, and these awards follow trends, not talent. And they're often packaged as progress to quiet Black audiences... There's a real difference between wanting Black people to win and pretending mediocrity is mastery. It's actually kinda embarrassing... they toss a nigger ANYTHING and we're hooting n hollering. It's a goddam joke.

Like Bey finally winning AOTY for her worst damn album (after Jay's speech). Just to shut our asses up. Everything feels like a sympathy donation to the black community; from one extreme to the other.

Sorry but Teyana>>>>
Love Regina and she should've been recognized as well. Putting Teyana down or trying to diminish her light isnt the answer to uplifting Regina.
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

Regina>>

Teyana hasn't surpassed her in any shape or form. She's having her moment. Let her have it.

Plus, Regina had her moment with that independent movie she did a few years ago Support the Girls and she swept the award season film festival circuit. Although it didn't lead to any major nominations, she was a strong front runner and contender. She'll have her moment again.

klappa.

regina's performance was stronger in the film and she definitely deserved the award. doesn't mean that teyana didn't still do a good job. but she is subject to critique just like any other actor/artist is. and to do so does not mean that she is being diminished or hated on.
