he's speaking truth about hypermasculine expectations that are placed on Black men in general

but that only speaks to why many gay Black men actually have it harder than straight Black men - sitting at that specific intersection

not really why Black straight men have it harder than us. we're not more "privileged" than them. walking around believing that is flirting with delusion IMO

maybe one can argue we're less "threatening" in certain spaces than a hypermasculine straight Black man, because if you're perceived as gay or fem presenting you might not be seen as someone who is likely to have a "Black militant" persona in spaces where that scares people. that i can say is true.

but sitting around acting like we're oh so privileged and better off really ignores the adversity we face just for existing. including young black boys tossed out onto the streets by their parents cuz they were confirmed to be gay. not just cuz they're a little feminine.
