The cinematography ate down. It was beautifully shot. And Michael's nephew Jaafar did a great job playing him.

Everything else was a fool. The pacing was so bad. They spent only 20-30 minutes on his childhood years then skipped straight to Off The Wall era nnnnnn.

I was talking with my sister after we left and we agreed it should've been a 10-episode show rather than a movie... similar to that American Crime Story/OJ Simpson show back in 2016. Michael's career and life is simply too GRAND to fit in a 2 hour movie.

Y'all....the Michael Jackson movie was a Box Office smash! (just as I predicted)

Off The Wall.

Originally the movie was going to be 3.5-4hrs. But Universal wanted them to cut it down. But I'm hearing that there's going to be at least three additional parts of the movie.

Kalifornia.

I agree.

Jafar ATE that role. He embodied, but the movie itself gave Lifetime. It felt rushed and just didn't feel like a proper tribute.

Them having one daughter  :plzstop:

Between that and all the legal loopholes they had to jump through.

I loved the movie for what it was.

Yeah there were tons of legal loopholes they had to jump through and Janet didn't want to be apart of the movie that's why she was cut out of it. They cut a whole bunch of stuff out of the movie because of that and Paris didn't want to be involved either. The rest of the family were on board with the movie. I really hope that there are additional parts of the movie because one movie isn't enough to tell Michael's story.

Summertime

The writing was bad and some of the shots were terrible on Fuqua's part. The movie came off as basically a concert film.
MJ and why he became the GOAT and biggest is his genius.
The way he heard and saw lyrics, productions, videos, the world pure genius. U can't listen to his a cappella and not walk away and say he is anything less than a genius.
But the movie doesn't delve into/show it.
It would be like making a Stevie biopic and not delve into how his brain works.
The family should have approached part 1 how the Last Dance & Jordan delved into how he became Air Jordan/GOAT for his field. It explained his psyche.

Anyway this movie did make me hungry for a Motown biopic whenever King Gordy or his estate when he goes to glory green light and honest one. This movie has sparked  the elders discussing all the tea ab them days in the D.

Kalifornia.

The Motown story needs to be a series on like HBO or something. That's too much story for a movie.
