it's not so much about making an angel out of George Floyd

he wasn't a murderer but he wasn't a saint either. like many other people

but he's literally referencing the moment he died at the hands of a police officer and making a kii out of it

this speaks to an issue and longstanding conversation that is understandably very sensitive to the community. not whether George was a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize or not

people weren't enraged and tearing shit up in 2020 cuz they loved George so much and cuz he was the world's greatest dad. his unfortunate situation was merely a catalyst for a tea that had been reaching the boiling point in this country for decades.

and in 2026 it still serves as a catalyst in these conversations, which explains why people want this white man's head on a platter.

I fully understand what the initial outrage was about the cop killing George Floyd. There's no excuse for the cop to literally decide to kill that man regardless of his past or his medical condition.
I'm saying though, now ppl are tearing apart the whole show, Kevin having to defend himself all because George is also being held to a high standard as well. Loren interviewed his brother to get his opinion as if they're celebrities.
It's just overkill

even though he lost his life it's really never been about George Floyd specifically though

some things go way beyond a name and the specific people involved in a situation

jurors admitted they let OJ Simpson off not cuz they thought he was a saint, but because they were tired of seeing Black people gettin the shit end of the stick after losing their lives, and wanted to stick a middle finger up to the courts and White people

yes OJ benefitted from the mess and benefitted from a case where his lawyer cleverly made it a race conversation ... but the bigger convo and issues are to thank for that.

i think youre kinda missing or overlooking the fact that George is simply a catalyst. if u acknowledge that you'd probably have a better understanding of why people have such emotional responses to his name

simply put: saying "George Floyd" is pretty much saying "brutality/Black murders at the hands of White cops"

even by technical/literal definition, including other people in a roast that have not chosen to participate isn't correct.

as i mentioned earlier, consent is usually a prerequisite in a roast.

someone asking "why is George in this?  " is not only an emotional question, it's actually a very logical and reasonable question.

In this roast they talked about Sheryl Underwood's husband committing suicide, they talked about Charlie Kirk getting killed, they talked about Pete Davidson's father dying in 9/11

people were def having conversations about Sheryl's dead family members being included in her roast

she actually addressed the conversation and said she had no issue with it but it was a reasonable question

comedians by default aren't gonna be too sensitive

but i have a hard time understanding why people don't understand how a White comedian making jokes about a Black man losing his life to a cop could rub someone the wrong way

if you're not offended personally that's actually great and i wouldn't want someone to be offended/angry just for the SAKE of being so and being performative or fake outraged.

but its a lil cray cray to question why others wouldn't see the huge hehe and haha, especially since George isn't here to consent to the laughter at his demise
