Quiet as it's kept, a lot of the blame can go on the producers/songwriters too.
A lot of the time, they only want the lead singer's vocals on the song for "cohesiveness" or because of crunch time.
I have been in too many rooms and seen this happen with groups. I disagree with this 100% though.
I love a Danity Kane type group where all members get in the game and play, big or small contributions.

We heard what RL from Next said. he tried to have Kelly lead a song, but Mathew wasn't having it.

Dc wasn't a real group so this makes sense. A group formed to launch Beyoncé's career. That is why there was always imbalance & why Matthew snatched up girls tyme from that lady on her death bed.
The way the knowles used to act like that wasn't the intent in the 90s 
When Matthew had Beyoncé out there claiming she wrote emotion so she can be seen as a multifaceted artist

DC was definitely a real group
They just had a superstar lead singer IDK why yall act like that's unheard of. The Supremes was a group, Labelle was a group, the Jacksons was a group.
Destiny's Child was a group. It was not formed for Beyonce because her father did not start the group. She was already the lead singer when the original manager passed away and he took over.
