Y'all really acting like a Grammy isn't the biggest accomplishment for an artist outside of a platinum plaque. :dead:

You do know that when an artist is being announced everywhere it's usually "__ time Grammy award winner [artist name]"

How can John Legend go #1 with All of Me
but Sam Smith Stay With Me got Song/Record of the Year
and only hit #3. All of Me won remixed recording
and it went to the DJ

cause it's kinda the better song of the two.

I definitely don't agree that the Grammys lack diversity.

thats subjective (and of course you jump in for the white guy)
but All Of Me Still should've at least been nominated

I've NEVER been a big John Legend fan...that's just it
it has nothing to do with Sam being white. I like Sam more..
why cant I just like someone without it have to be about the color of their skin?

I didn't know it wasn't nominated tho. lol

Tbh it's all about the prestige behind an award. If the BET Award was more exclusive and had a dress code, it could definitely be what we need.

lol the thread is about race
and you always pick white artists or K-Pop over Blacks
except Brandy & Chris but I digress
yea it should have at least gotten a nod they were equally big and impactful

!!! Yea, am not trying to sound like a coon or something but...

TBH. Its a bunch of factors. BET in general has gone down.

so, in other words, it should be more palatable to non-black audiences? that reeks of respectability politics.

I don't understand why it's so hard to just celebrate our own. it shouldn't have to be approved by whites.

Something about the BET awards changed around 2008 or '9.
It kinda lost some magic. Could be because most of everyone is flop now. IDK
I do wish it could get back to whatever it lost. I used to love it back in the day.
