This thread made me get back into GEDMatch.
I find it so weird with the Dominican results because it also returned a pretty significant mix of Iberian (Spain/Portugal) and Mesoamerican admixture in my results in more than one test. Almost 10% . Something tells me that my grandmother's father was of significant Hispanic descent. From the DNA, to her coming back as "Dominican"..
To how she describes him. She doesn't have pictures of him but she said he was very fair skinned with very curly hair. And clearly she wasn't making it up, on a couple official documents, including his marriage certificate, he's listed as "white", so he was passing for white even though he wasn't. That sounds like a hispanic person to me. Many of them can easily slip under the radar and give a white mess out. And there was no such thing as designating someone as "Hispanic" on records back on those days. You were white or black.

And I know this is more trivial, but I found it hilarious, when we were doing that whole celeb look alike site thing weeks ago, I put my aunt in there and her top result was Rosie Perez.

I found it funny because she said people always think she's Hispanic. But I was still shocked cuz I guess I don't see these things when I look at my family. It's outside people that usually point things out.
Honestly I barely believed her.
