A lot of my family is religious and go by the Bible to the tea. But would never cast me to the side or disown me because I'm the way I am.

If someone asks my grandmother what she feels about gays, she would probably say something similar. She still loves me though and would straggle anyone who tried to come for me because of my sexuality. She's actually done it.  Someone tried it in my family and she went AWF. Gay, straight, bi...no one fucks with her cubs. 

It's totally possible to not necessarily align yourself with and support the "gay lifestyle", but still have people close to you whom you love and respect no differently because of it.

But you do have parents and grandparents who will throw their kids out and disown them. Cut them off financially and disassociate themselves. That is pure hatred. Not a belief.

Don't you think it's weird though that she doesn't agree with your "lifestyle" but yet will get someone together for coming for your "lifestyle"? I have a grandmother similar to yours; super religious, slightly homophobic but loves her children and grandchildren to bits. I love her, but I can't help but constantly question what she really thinks about me because she has made it clear more than once that she doesn't agree with homosexuality. Needless to say I have distanced myself from her a bit. I just don't want that energy in my life. I'd rather have people around me who truly love me unconditionally and understand that being gay is not a CHOICE and it is not a lifestyle, it is just who I am. 

Now I think there's a difference. My grandmother never came out and said she has something against homosexuality. But she never said she was hooping and hollering for them either. lol

It's not like she condemned us to hell and got some together the next day for doing the same. She's remained neutral. The only time I really saw her touch on it is when they tried it.

I understand. I wish your grandmother were more like mine. It's quite heartbreaking having someone you love condemn an aspect of who you are as a person.

Luv your grandma for that.
