I'm about to empty my coins into this history search. You're really selling this, are they paying you or something?

Honestly I never took interest in genealogy until I perched here in the SOuth for a while.
In NYC we could careless who's what, everyone's something.
But down here where it's more simple..more Black and White ... literally. If they see someone out of line with the "ordinary" they will single you out quick. And start asking questions

"How do you get your hair like that?

"
My sister was puzzled as well as to why I suddenly got so interested in knowing my family history. But It's only so many times that you're questioned..... accused of perming your hair and mess that you begin to ask what's going on for yourself.
My grandmother never sat around and talked about her heritage. So this is why I was like

when people would ask if I was Haitian (two people on here asked me that), or say I looked Dominican, or whatever. But it all makes sense now.
The Dumas family has ancestral roots in Saint Dominigue, which is now Haiti/DR. I got my answers and I cannot tell you how good it feels to really know who I am. And who my grandmother is.
