Months ago I had my African DNA evaluated by an expert, and he returned his thoughts:

QuoteGiven that you also score a fair amount of Southeastern Bantu while your Nigerian contribution is rather small it's tempting to assume your Cameroon/Congo combines with SE Bantu and generally might point towards Central African origins in your case.

Angola is in Central Africa. And the roots of Melungeons began with Angolans.

Also worth noting, my people were free and independent thinkers. And not a product of Massah and his slave.
QuoteThe name "Melungeon" was not applied to these first Africans by white outsiders or slave owners. It was a name they called themselves.

I now have a connection for almost ALL of my DNA.
GHana will of course be harder to trace but I'm satisfied so far. I'm sure that's from my father. I originally guessed the potent concentration of GHana was from him and the other stuff was from my mother. I was right.

Research. Research. Research. LMAO! :letsmessfag:

I think Ghana will be a bit easier since there's only 2,3 major groups and then there's 12,13 subgroups which are closely tired and they have remained in that area of West Africa  for hundreds of years
What Ghana was then was actually 3,4 countries combined, Mali, Togo, Ivory Coast and Ghana itself, now it's reduced to what it is today thanks to the scramble for Europe 🙄
They migrated from the North and through Nubia, settled then travelled through the Sahara and then into the west where they are now
They haven't really mixed with other Ethnic groups outside of kingdoms

When I say it would be harder I mean it would be harder to see how it ties directly into my father's family. I searched back as far as I could but hit a brick wall after only 2 or 3 generations. But I'm gonna dig back in .
