A significant proportion of their number, (an estimated 13 million), are nomadic, making them the largest pastoral nomadic group in the world. Spread over many countries, they are found mainly in West Africa and northern parts of Central Africa, but also in Sudan and Egypt.
While their early habitat in West Africa was apparently in an area in the vicinity of the borders of present-day Mali, Senegal and Mauritania, they are now, after centuries of gradual migrations and conquests, spread throughout a wide band of West and Central Africa. The Fulani People occupy a vast geographical expanse located roughly in a longitudinal East-West band immediately south of the Sahara, and just north of the coastal rain forest and swamps, although situations have changed a lot in recent times, and, a sizable proportion of Fulani people now live in the heavily forested zones to the south, in countries like Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Cameroon, Guinea, The Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In my mothers village in Brong Ahafo there's actually a tomb yard where there's 700-800 years worth of buried dead
My mother is one of the very first of modern people to actually leave for Europe
My father (Ivory Coast) has connections to the Hausa/Fulani tribe and their admixture is more complicated since they are nomadic which means they've travelled from East, to North down Central and West and settled everywhere in between

The kingdom of Bonoman (or Brong-Ahafo) was established as early as the 12th century, and between the 12th and 13th centuries a gold boom in the Akan area brought wealth to numerous Akans.

During different phases of the Kingdom of Bonoman groups of Akans migrated out of the area to create numerous states based predominantly on gold mining and trading of cash crops.

This brought wealth to numerous Akan states like Akwamu Empire, (1550-1650) and ultimately led to the rise of the most well known Akan empire, the Empire of Ashanti, (1700-1900), the most dominant of the Akan states.

This is why I the blacks who ignore al the WEALTH of African history and glorify that less than 20% Euro or w/e slave DNA (and please this isn't directed to anyone)

Well we have people out here saying Africans are ugly, dirty, not fitting the standards of beauty. Which all contribute to people straying away from their heritage, if they feel Africans are nothing to glorify, why even look into it? But a negro nose don't come from Europe.  We're not as far separated from our African roots as we like to think.

I know. But Black Americans can't be blamed for that.
We're not taught African American history in school. Unless it's talking about Civil Rights or Black History Month or the same popular figures over and over and over.

Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Rosa Parks. I mean that can just pretty much sum up the mess we were taught about in regards to African American history in the early years of school. You were slaves, you were freed, you were oppressed, you fought, and guess what , turn on the news when you get home to see that you're still fightin! hehe! have fun kiddies!

My best friend has been teaching her son how to handle the cops as a TEN year old. This is the kind of country we live in. He has to know that he will be a target and it makes me so fucking ANGRY that my Godson has to hear this mess. He HAS to. My bestie has always been a realist and she knows she's raising a Black man. But it still fucking sucks. And makes my blood boil when I think of it. He has to know that a fucking target is on his back before he even hits high school.

I mean she puts it gently as possible but she's starting early on so it can be ingrained into his head. Nothing new when he's old enough to start staying out and hanging with friends, etc.
