Ummmmm that's not true.  Mtv has given many artists that platform. Firstly,  Maxwell has already had an unplugged, so there goes that.  Mtv recognizes musicians and this is not always about some who is the most popular thing.  Vh1 just did one for Jill Scott for her last album and Jill Scott aint some huge mainstream artist so please be tf quiet

boy MTV in 2016 is not MTV in the 90s or VH1 period so all that nonsense is void
they are not letting niggers on there unless they are crossover. I could maybe see Maxwell getting one again

U are aware that Vh1 and Mtv are owned by the same people, right? So this mtv aint vh1 is void. Mtv is not some place that only recognizes mainstream artist. If Tyler the Creator who is a NOBODY can win a vma, they can give jill scott an hour long show, Ledisi,  avery sunshine and others can perform on vh1 big buzz, then these girls who are very known in the world of R&B can get an unplugged.

I don't see a point in bringing TRL back when you can watch your favorite music video on your phone or computer anytime you want. That's a waste of airtime.

They do need to revamp Unplugged & Diary of tho
