Brandy did what alot of singers/actors do.  She picked up chicago after another actor and handed it off to someone else when she was done.  To be nominated u have to start with the production and do it throughout.  It seems like its broadway's way of making sure actors who are committed to broadway are recognized and not these fly by nighters that come in for a few weeks and then leave

Jennifer has been doing the color purple. Clearly i mean from the start of the most recent run. There are shows like chicago, cats, and rent that have been going forever. do u really think that  only the people who did it at its inception 20 yrs ago are eligible for nomination and no one else?
