I agree with her that its a double standard.  Women (and some men) put drain cleaner on their scalps to straighten out the kinks everyday but we don't call them self haters.  We also have light skinned black women who go to tanning salons (Raven admitted to doing it during That's So Raven) which can cause Cancer but everyone thinks its cute.

Azalea should embrace her natural color cause I think it adds to her appeal, but I can't call her a self hater and then ignore the fact that Rihanna, Keri Hilson, and Monica have never worn their natural hair texture in the 10+ years they've been celebrities.

The thing is

Although I think being who you are is superior to everything else

With hair for example, theres a laundry list as to why someone would add tracks to their scalp. I'm sure the fact that the world believes those of European descent are the standard of beauty influence that though, in most cases.

But when it comes to skin, theres literally only ONE reason why someone would bleach everything: They think lighter skin is more beautiful

Now, if you're a discolored, patchy, vanilla swirl mess, I understand. But Azaelia had PERFECT skin.

:omgwatshappening:

The girl HATES herself. Point blank.

She can save the 'but Bey, rih! weave! nails!'

I could agree with the weave situation if they were to sew in some kinky 4C hair into their scalps from time to time, but all they ever give is a bone straight or curly mulatto mess.

there are plenty of people who equate weave to self hate. its a big reason many natural hair black women went that route. It's not a political statement or a black panther movement but they pride themselves on truly loving themselves. No chemicals or horse hair added.

So azeslia has a valid point. Adding extensions is not the same as completely ROLLING ur hair up and stuffing it under s horsetail ... Hoping no one will see ur "kitchen". Let's not act oblivious.

I don't think every woman with weave hates herself but azeslia is not far off the mark with her comparison.
I don't think that at all

I just think her excuses are full of shit and are terrible comparisons.

The girl wants to be fcking white.

:young:

It's the same way DL homophobic faggots love dick and ass but to the world they HATE gays.

I don't believe her. She needs more people.

Drain cleaner in ur hair??

A relaxer/texturizer is basically a weakened drain cleaner.

Mon'ca hasn't permed her hair in nearly 2 decades. Because she straightens it doesn't mean it's not her texture. It's very much her texture. Straightening is a style.
