Perming is a form of self hate IMO too.
I'm sorry. It may be subconscious and girls may be doing it unknowlingly; but craving a different texture than yours says something.

Straightening from Time to time is one thing but slapping these chemicals for a silky straight "mixed" mess ain't the move.

I actually was a FB a few days ago and wants to put my two cents in this post but decided not to; this beautiful black chocolate girl was posting about getting a relaxer for the summer cuz she's tired of doing her hair. And one of her friends were like girl; no! Just DO your hair!

And she replies "I ain't got that good shit like you" or something like that and I just cringed.

It was so sad to see..

The fact that some feel "less than" in their blackness is just so saddening to me.

Hair is what defines us a black people :dead:
All black people don't even have the same kinda hair What sense does that make :kii:
funny u singled out hair when many of us don't share the same skin tones either

But mess
Which brings me back to my original point that hair is an accessory and the way u choose to wear it is irrelevant :kii:
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

Inject My Lips

If we can dismiss hair as an accessory then we would have to dismiss Azalea's skin bleaching because I know plenty of people who darken their skin to get a "summer glow".

I agree with her that its a double standard.  Women (and some men) put drain cleaner on their scalps to straighten out the kinks everyday but we don't call them self haters.  We also have light skinned black women who go to tanning salons (Raven admitted to doing it during That's So Raven) which can cause Cancer but everyone thinks its cute.

Azalea should embrace her natural color cause I think it adds to her appeal, but I can't call her a self hater and then ignore the fact that Rihanna, Keri Hilson, and FLOPica have never worn their natural hair texture in the 10+ years they've been celebrities.

You can add Ciara & Beyonce to that list as well. I see what you did there hon.

it's not worth debating this with u

Nnnn we can agree to disagree
Well stop quoting :dead:
Its an accessory,  which is why people dont usually wear the same hairstyle their entire life. This coming from the person that wants Toni to throw in that long weave because "she slays more with it" :dead:
This girl is fckd in the head, it's a weak ass analogy,  and we can definitely agree to disagree  :kii:

I think hair is something that can just be dressed up and accessorized but not it itself being an accessory ; if that makes sense.

It's a part of us. But has the ability to transform your look with accessories and different styling. Kinda like the leaves on a tree.

sometimes it's not their fault

A lot of black women were raised by black women who just took them to a Beauty shop instead of teaching them how to take care of their hair. This is generational and it's no ones fault

I applaud the girls like the one you mentioned because they actually try. It's not her fault that haircare is something totally new and apparently time consuming when all she usually does is sit in a chair for an hour a week and voila!!

This is very true. My mother has very coarse hair sddddd which shocked my family because her Mom has Japanese hair. Genetics are funny.
They slapped a perm in my moms hair at 2!  :dead:

She's just NOW learning to appreciate and take care of her hair like a black woman. For so long she was trying to get that wavy mess like her sisters  :dead:

SouravMay

Only problem is I constantly lashed her for wearing weaves as well.

:receipts: :receipts:

So Azebra sis you have no point.

I honestly don't see the problem with weaves unless you're the kinda girl who can't be seen without one and never go out in public with your own grown hair. Then it means you rely on it to look pretty.
