I see what you're saying Bent, but that remark was off the cuff and not scripted at all. I feel like she acknowledged that it was an ignorant thing to say and it was big of her to invite Roland on her show. But I can't help but find it a bit patronizing still. Something about it bothers me.

i think we should at least commend her for allowing him to use such a big platform to educate many people that watch her show. He just touched a demographic that he normally wouldn't get a chance to reach. I think it's good PR and i think she's really sorry/contrite here. 

Either way, im more than glad that she chose to do it.

Whether she's genuine with her willingness to accept her mistake and learn from it is totally up to her. I can't and won't be the judge of that.

all I know is she did the right thing, for herself and for her viewers. And for Blacks in general. When you're wrong, say you were wrong.

&im sorry but she is just SO unintelligent to me.  I think she was allowing him to speak to "educate" but i also think she sat in silence because she just isnt equipped to have this kinda convo.

You know what?  She has two educated parents, and her dad is an Alpha.  Something tells me the basics of why HBCUs and the NAACP exist are things she already knew, but she just wanted to repeat something ignorant to try to connect with whites.  She's not that stupid.  I'm sure her parents were disgusted.  Did she also tell her dad BGLO are racist? 

This was a calculated PR move, but hopefully she learned to keep her stupid comments to herself lest she be served more humble pie.

Yes, the timeline he laid out lets everyone know we JUST BARELY got a SEMBLANCE of freedom and equality fairly recently.  I always remember that my parents' generation desegregated their schools here in the South (they're in their 50s), so it is not that far removed from me.  Perhaps Wendy would know more about American history, Reconstruction, the Great Migration, the Civil Rights Movement, and black history in general if she attended African American studies courses at an HBCU, like I did.   

She should really be ashamed of herself.  But I insist that she knows better.  She's 50.
