Modern blue-eyed soul was a male-dominated thing (Robin Thicke, Gavin DeGraw, etc.). Jojo was one of the white females that came in and made people realize young white girls can have soul without screaming like Xtina. IMO, Jojo helped open the door for Tori, Leah Labelle, etc.

JoJo really was like the only chick at her age having mainstream success when she was 13-16yrs old. That I'll definitely give her. But I wouldnt say she opened doors for ppl like Tori or Leah. If they had come out when they were in their early/mid teens after JoJo, then I will say for sure. But Tori and Ari came out in their adulthood years almost a decade later. Britney opened doors for Xtina, Jessica Simpson, Mandy Moore, etc cause labels used her as the prototype to market these girls to pop stardom. But JoJo, not so much.

Im really hoping the new JoJo single is lit tho. She deserves to win.
