what did they do to women?

The casting call ranked women by race, hair, etc.  The "A" girls were models of any race with their own hair.  The blacker they got, they were ranked lower through "D" girls.  Beyonce herself was described as a "B" since she's only light-skinned with a weave, I guess. 


Keep in mind, eighties and nineties aesthetics were different than they are now.  Girls in rap videos back then were pretty but looked like regular, around the way girls, not international models.

the movie was really good tho...and it showed the shit they had to go through and how they manage to rise to the top. And the actors did a really good job....
