QuoteKing: When I was mixing ?Never Givin? Up? in L.A. I ran into Brandy and Wanya, I knew Wanya from Philly and I had worked with Brandy on another project. They said, ?What are you doing out here?? I said, ?I?m mixing Aaliyah at a studio near by.? They ended coming over to the studio and Brandy said, ?What is Aaliyah working on now? I want to hear it.? I just played ?Never Givin? Up? and her eyes watered up. She said, ?She absolutely destroyed this. This is her new sound?? I said, ?Yeah this is where she?s going.? I called Aaliyah that night and told her, ?Brandy and Wanya were in the studio and they absolutely loved ?Never Givin? Up.?? She was like, ?That?s what?s up!?

I think she always always stanned

When bran won that award and randomly shouted her out, I feel like that was so genuine. Li' was the first girl to come out so young and I feel like bran admired her edge among other things

Things bran wasn't allowed to give

damn near a decade later during Afrodisiac sessions with Candace Nelson:

QuoteCandice Nelson: I want to say that may have been the first one we wrote from those sessions. It just felt like fun. The beat and everything just felt like early 90?s/late 80?s. It just sounded like fun. I was like ?This is cute!? We wrote it that way, it felt like fun. It reminded us of when we were younger and at house parties. And the Aaliyah reference, I always wanted the opportunity to work with her. Brandy was obviously over the moon about that line. It made her extra cool to me. It was like ?You were cool before, but you?re even cooler now.? *Laughs*

Their mutual love and respect for one another>>>>
Even when the record labels were kind of trying to pit them against each other (FLOPica included)
It could have easily been a Madonna, Janet and Mariah type rivalry  :plzstop:

QuoteShe was the first girl on the scene. She came out before FLOPica and I did, and she was our inspiration," Brandy tells The Juice of Aaliyah. It was different with Aaliyah and Brandy. Femme camaraderie trumped competition. Besides being side by side on the Billboard charts, with FLOPica, the R&B divas stuck together, supporting one another in each other's personal and professional life.

There was a moment when I won at, I think, [Soul Train] Lady of Soul [Music Awards]. She sent me flowers saying how proud she was and 'congratulations.' I just thought that was so angelic and sweet of her. People say that Aaliyah is angelic and that just made me feel like 'wow, that's a moment.' Other artists supporting another artist when everybody's trying to put you against each other, which was very special. I was like 'whoa, that's really big of her.'

Chameleon

Li and Bran really used each other!!!
And it seemed very genuine unlike _______ embellished short stories

QuoteTavarius [Polk] who was a part of our team and he sang on it. He was like 13 or 14 years old at the time. He sang the male part and killed it. Aaliyah fell in love with his voice, too, so we kept him on it. He came in and owned it. He sounded like a grown man.
