It would kinda force them too but things like this could be with anyone. With the right PR spin it could be a success for even the least likely of competitors. I mean Kanye and 50 Cent are nowhere near in the same realm but when their albums came out the same day it caused alot of hype and 50's last successful album. Same with Monica and Justin Bieber when they released on the same day.
