Nelly fans have teamed up for what they?ve dubbed the #HotInHerreStreamingParty on Twitter, with the hope of helping the rapper pay off his $2.4 million tax debt.

The performer (real name Cornell Iral Haynes, Jr.) is facing a $2.4 million lien which comes from unpaid taxes in 2013. If he doesn?t come up with the money soon, the IRS could seize his assets and property, Billboard reports.

While fans are rallying around Nelly to continually stream ?Hot In Herre? all day and night, the harsh reality is an awful lot of streaming needs to be done to even come close to raising the cash he needs to pay off his IRS debt. According to Spin, Spotify pays an artist an average of $0.006 to $0.0084 per stream, meaning Nelly would have to receive at least 287,176,547 streams of the song to pay his taxes. And the number doesn?t account royalties for his label and publishers, which brings the stream count number even higher.

Still, fans continue to rally behind Nelly with one stream after another.

he should be able to raise about forty bucks with his fanbase

But he must be paid. if he owes 2.4 off of what he made in 2013, imagine the income. Some people just aren't great with money and he's clearly one of em. Doesn't he own part of a basketball team or something
