Without being bias, one must go. Based strictly on catalogue

f not challenging Mary's versatility. She's sung gospel, R&B, jazz, blues, dance, AC, pop and rock  :dead:

You have no wins when it comes to Mar', hun.

Vonc2002

Mary has sang outright pop music. I mean she had a sing with U2 even. Monica aint more versatile than Mary, like stop :dead:
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

Mary has done more versatile music for sure. But she can't quite give a pop vocal. All Mary songs sound like MARY...

This goes to show you most people know nothing about vocals.  They are going based off who they personally like.

n

well it's about catalog which is subjective so yeah people are going to like different people for different reasons

Some girls hate ghan and know shes the better singer but will not give it to her because of the feelings they have on her as a person lol

Yea the general public ain't sitting up and studying adlibs, harmonies and backgrounds  :dead: she technically only gives them 2 singles every few years and they're never even her best offerings compared to the rest of the project.

Now take this list over to the music industry and they'd cackle and praise Brandy all night. I think I like that more, as a fan with an ear
!!!!!!

I honestly believe it was a conscious (or sub conscious) decision by Brandy not to cater to certain things tbh

I read someone say Brandy can't convincingly give the appeal in here, grease or urban appeal, but that's not true

Her brand of RnB is very true.

I feel like Feel So Good, Doesn't Really Matter, Take Me Back, Second Thought, Throw It All Away, and all the B Cox stuff prolly would've been more successful than we think

When she's in that zone, she's actually the definition of RnB :dead:
!!!! She could easily do that if she wanted to, but part of me is super happy she experiemented with her sound instead of sticking to the commercial never say never thing (although it was a good balance of progressive R&B/pop too)

She could've easily stretched that out longer and kept those braids stitched in, but could we really do without Full moon and Afrodisiac? Hell no. And the music industry certainly couldn't

!!!! It's helped her in the long run. Otherwise she would've been just another basic R&B girl.
