well I hear potential
I think you should take music theory courses along with the vocal lessons
that way you can get a really understanding of pitch, and you can train your ear to hear when you go flat or sharp
try to practice proper breathing where you inhale , and hold the air in your stomach, and gradually exhale it as you sing
