In all seriousness, this movie isn't going to tank

The Power Rangers name is universal. They don't even really need to promote (even though they should) because the show has been airing for so long and between multiple generations.

All they need is a good first opening week/decent reviews and the people will continue to flow in.

It's going to sell off its name either way.

Screenwriter Max Landis, who worked on an early draft of Power Rangers but was fired, has pointed out how similar the teaser looks to Chronicle. And Landis should know, because he wrote the pioneering (but in my opinion pretty overrated) 2012 found-footage superhero movie. Perhaps efforts to drum up a Chronicle vibe also explain why the trailer reminds me of last year?s dreary and listless Fantastic Four, another movie directed by one-time man-of-the-moment Trank.

1. Max Landis' script was shit and nothing like Chronicle.
2. Max Landis himself is shit.
3. Trank is a shit director who is nowhere near this movie (Dean Israelite is the director).
4. Watch Project Almanac (another movie Dean Israelite directed) and you'll see more similarities between that and PR than Chronicle.

I guess. But a trailer is supposed to show some of the plot. Of course some things will be similar for the simple fact that it's superheroes in high school, but if anything Chronicle copied them.
