yes there's actually a law against gay males in Jamaica called buggery.
If caught in the act they could be locked up but most of the time they are killed even if there's just a suspicion.

I witnessed one of my friend's friend (straight male) see Brandy's new show on TV one night.

"Oh she bad as fuck! She fine!" (talking about Brandy)

And when the gay assistance came around, he was like "OH fuck! what happened to dudes like Hakeem?"
He turned him off, he was saying why every show has to have a gay character?

I don't know. That's his feelings. But if everyone stops and thinks... gay people have always been around us. It's time to reflect THAT on television, because that is LIFE.

When I think about it...
In the 90s... there was an episode on Moesha, and the one time a gay character was mentioned... it was almost shameful (Hakeem's friend or cousin or something).

I don't remember seeing gay characters in Family Matters, The Parkers, Sister Sister...
I mean, there's clearly a difference.
