Brad Pitt has been cooperating with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services following an incident on September 14 in which he allegedly had a physical and verbal altercation with his 15-year-old son Maddox.

According to TMZ, the DCFS have chosen to expand their investigation to alleged incidents between Brad and his wife Angelina Jolie, which are said to have been witnessed by their children.

"They're looking for a history or pattern of behavior," a source tells People. "They are looking at the original inciting incident and anything surrounding that, and looking at any relevant history."

In the meantime, the former couple will continue to adhere to the temporary visitation plan the DCFS has set forth, which was initially scheduled to end on October 20. They will also continue individual and family counseling.

"The parties reached an initial agreement, and standard operating procedure is that a DCFS investigation is open-ended," a source tells People. "DCFS is under no deadline and there is no delay here, simply a continuation of an ongoing process."

Pitt has reportedly met with his children several times, and a therapist was present during their first encounter. However, Us Weekly reports that Maddox chose not to see his father during a visit that took place last week.
