Honestly, unless one party is willing to relocate so they can be together, it will never work in the long run.

Eventually one person in the relationship will meet someone else locally and either cheat or break up with their partner.

I think they can if both/all parties want it to work. It's a pain. My ex had to move back to London at one point. We were together for about four years before he had to relocate from NYC. It worked for us. Later, we broke up for reasons unrelated to the distance.

No for something new, but most likely it can work in a relationship that's already established. It matters if you both have coins to fly too lol.
