Thanks to Serena Williams, the U.S. Open women?s singles final has sold out before the men?s, for what is believed to be the first time in the history of the tournament.

From a report from ESPN?s Darren Rovell:

?USTA spokesman Chris Widmaier said ticket records, as with anything, are less reliable over time, but the organization is confident that this is the first time the ticket demand was greater for a women?s final.

In fact, in some years, the women?s final has not even sold out.?

So, why now? Two words: Serena Williams.

I know but she's made it to the final of the last 4 slams  so unless she's just playing extremely horribly there's a slim to none chance that she won't make it to the final.

That was last year though.....the word flop doesn't even exist for her this year. She's only lost 2 matches all year


Her Wimbledon draw was tougher imo. And she nearly got put out too by Heather Watson  I think she has this.
