Its really fucked up how eurocentric beauty standards have impacted POC across the globe

It was really interesting so see the effect of colorism in other communities specif. Asian.

The girl that was breaking out in rashes bc of bleaching and her family not caring at all.  :'(

Korea doesn't shock me, I've seen and heard of so many K-Pop idols saying colorist mess.

yeah colorism is a huge problem in South Asian communities
Particularly in women...but even in men too.

I remember my cousin telling me that I wasn't as fair as him.
He said that if I wanted to be fair I should take a towel and soak it in very hot tap water and put it on my face and kind-of burn the darkness off.

I tried it once. And my face was red for like an hour afterward.

I was 11.

ugh.

This is why I stan for my beautiful dark skinned Black queens.
its so much stigma attached to it all that can be alleviated with more self pride.

but PReme brings up a good point. our community doesn't seem to have it as bad as others
u don't see Black mothers pushing their daughter's faces into cans of bleach.

!!! I am literally gagging at the fact that they had this girl start bleaching in 3rd grade?  :uhh:
