While I understand his frustration, his comments paint him in a similar light to the person his criticizes. He's just as passive aggressive, which isn't cute for any age. His own comments are passive aggressive, are they not? And they're the worst kind because he feels the need to voice them while someones being celebrated.
He doesn't feel the need to do so about other artists, so why this particular one? Most of his annoyances with Bran can be made about any other artists, including Whit, Rih, Mariah, etc.
Btw, what does it matter where the title came from? Clive Davis coined that term The Voice and magazines started writing it. MJ called himself the King of Pop first and forced other people refer to him as that before it caught on. People started calling her the vocal bible because there is merit behind it...which is why it caught on. It wouldn't have spread if it was all just a fanbase fairy tale.
