Kaeli's thread -spilling on friends who try it- made me think about how certain things can be normalcy for some people and inexcusable to others.

I think about how people have their own personal contracts with certain friends or lovers. What's acceptable to me may not be acceptable to someone else.




When do you decide it's time to end a relationship with a close friend or someone you're dating?

What things are intolerable for you?

What things are you flexible around that others may not be?

If you severe ties with someone what needs to happen before you reconnect? Is that even a possibility?

Im not willing to accept disrespect of any kind, towards ANYONE.  I had a friend that was my VERY best friend but he wasn't progressing in life......i thought.  Still pulling the same bullshit that was "cool" when we were teenagers. He was......sexually fluid, and found himself messing with some guy at one point.  He and the guy had this on/off again thing.  The guy actually had a girl that he started messing with during one of their "off" moments and she became pregnant. My friend (who was/is completely immature) decided he was jealous. He told me he was gonna contact the girl, let her know about their relationship, and really just try to fck up this situation. I found that to be completely disgusting and slowly started to remove myself.  He couldn't understand why i felt so strongly but AH WELP! That rubbed me all the wrong way and was something that i considered a character flaw.......plus i was kinda already on the fence with ol boy, so this was the icing on the cake

Oh yeah I would have severed ties as well, especially if someone you're close with isn't even receptive to changing their ways. Reminds me of a scenario with my former best friend. Eh.

I told that friend that if he ever needed anything to hit me up.  I just wanted to change our dynamic. We still converse every now and again but we're not at all the close friends we used to be.

Honestly I do not explicitly say "I want to take a time-out", I will just be flaky or not reach out. Things move more organically with me. But actually CUTTING someone, I only do it, if they show disrespect and if there is no love and appreciation for me. If they still do, even if I don't love love their presence, I won't actually cut them.
