I think j cole's lowkey ways are why people applaud him the most.  Alot of people respect that he "hasnt sold his soul" for success. I think he could be alot more visible, he just doesn't want to. They not just handing HBO specials to anyone. He could be doing alot more but he doesn't.  This is why he's perceived as a rapper with integrity and all that mess.

dark sky is probably one of the best hip hop albums in the last 4 years
It's critically and commercially successful
