The judge would light his ass on fire for letting his roommate handle all the lease tea while he was out on the town bullshitting.       

This is kinda what i was thinking too. Like u signed and were aware (or shouldve been) of the contract.  He MAY be alright if he finds a sympathetic judge maybe, especially with the landlord's statement and if he has dated checks/payments or whatever

The written contract was in place before the hypothetical verbal one, it can't supercede it.  Anything from that point needs to be in writing to be valid. He has a case but i could also see it not going in his favor, so it's a toss up

I guess maybe after the lease was signed, the roommate told him the landlord implemented some new policies or some shit, just lying.  He was his longterm friend, so he just bought it.   A nigga like me wouldve called the landlord like uhhhhhh, what's good :hmph:
