I used to think all Arabs from my country are white like my mother and her parents so when I visited there they didn't realize that I was actually half black, they thought i was just a darker one, when my Muslim Palestinian student friends finally randomly saw my mom on picture on my phone and saw how fair she was they couldn't believe how "beautiful" she is simply because she's so light.
