No disrespect, but i think it's so crazy to say the way someone chooses to live THEIR life is "disturbing". I never understood why people concern themselves with who someone else is fckn or if they choose to throw on a dress or some slacks. Shit, u get one life and whatever makes ur quality of life amazing, then do that. However, i do think that the parents of a young transgendered person should proceed with caution, because i wouldnt wanna greenlight something at an early age and yrs down the line you're like MEH

So imagine if a CHILD is given the right to pick who they want to be? That shit doesn't make sense to me. I think they probably would've when they were YOUNGER when they were still finding themselves. I often think if I had a son, would I allow him to see two men kissing each other on TV? He'd definitely have to be old enough to understand what he's watching. But then again, at a certain age, should he be watching ANYONE kiss each other on a TV screen straight or gay....

Sure by the time he's old enough to watch something outside of Nick JR. I'd explain to him what he is bound to see, and that he has to make his own decisions in life.

I think some parents with tran kids are afraid of their child growing up to hate them for not letting them be what they wanted to be. I can imagine that is tricky as a parent. but it's also pretty evident that white families are more likely to "understand" than any other group of people.

Children aren't old enough to know themselves yet and even as adults we're constantly finding and re-inventing ourselves, so slapping them on front of a magazine cover when in 6 months they could possibly change their minds isn't a bright idea, especially when it's something sensitive and personal such as sexuality and identity.
Ever since Bruce became Caitlin the whole thing has been romantized IMO
It's def a lot deeper and serious than that.

Children are incredibly smart
and I think a lot of you here don't give them enough credit

but that's not the case for everyone. Some kids just know 100% who they are
and i don't really see it as a "huge decision" because that would mean it would be a choice to make

But this is my position too. As a parent, i think it's my place to be the voice of reason and try to be a lil more thorough in our decisions and actions. I could maybe understand someone arguing the alternative tho. There is no RIGHT decision tbh. I wouldnt judge someone for doing something  that can be chalked up to  supporting their child.  Everyone is so damn judgemental smh
