Avril Lavigne is crafting a comeback.

Several years have passed since the Canadian pop princess' last body of work: 2013's self-titled. Life came up, including the discovery she has Lyme disease, which put everything on hold... including any creative projects.

She did drop a couple of songs in between, including "Fly," the main theme song for the Special Olympics and a collaboration with Nick Carter, but now that the singer seemingly has things under control she's focused on releasing her sixth studio album, and it will drop in the new year.

Lavigne took to Instagram to first tease fans about an impending surprise, then on Christmas morning, revealed her record plans:

"Hi Everyone!! I wanted to first thank my fans for your patience & support during my time away throughout my battle with Lyme Disease over the past 2 years," she said. "It hasn't just been a hard battle but it's also been enlightening and will reflect in my new music, artistry, life, and personally. I will always continue to make it a priority to fight and raise awareness about Lyme Disease with the Avril Lavigne foundation."

She added: I'm really happy to announce that I am now working on new music and I will be releasing a new album in 2017. I can't wait to open up and share my heart with you! I'm excited for you guys to hear the new songs. It's going to be an amazing 2017!"

I can't wait to be honest her last album which was self titled was really good..i like her she's never made a bad album her music slays ugh :ack:

She hasn't made a good album since her sophomore. Nobody besides the Japanese twinks uses.

Not really. "Girlfriend," for instance could have easily been a Taylor song. Avril is more rock but they're both heavily pop...
