Honestly I believe some of us are conditioned to accept stereotypes about ourselves the same way "other groups of people" do. For someone to say "this is why they see us like that" is promoting that every bad acting Black person is PROOF that we're uncivilized. If you saw some White kids fighting and acting a fool on youtube (which they certainly do)....it would be some White kids fighting. If you see Black kids fighting its heathens! home training! animals! Black people are judged unfairly on all levels.

The only place I'd say that perception matters is my place of employment.
You have to play the game and play it right. And that's just reality.

Outside of that, I'm not sitting around concerned about how Sarah down the block feels about me. Fuck her and her prematurely aging face.

I've learned over the years for us to truly advance and be a colorful society (which we're far from), we have to stop caring how white people view us. That's the only way we'll leave this Eurocentric world everyone lives in.

Seeking their approval just means you have to live to their standards. Fck that. This world belongs to EVERYONE and everyones culture should be embraced and the norm.
