In case you're living under a rock (or a castle on a hill, heh), Ed Sheeran has officially dropped back into the music scene. On Friday, the Grammy Award winning singer dropped two new songs from his forthcoming album "?" (Divide): "Shape of You" and "Castle on the Hill."
The former was originally meant for Rihanna, Sheeran admits in a new interview with BBC. ??Shape Of You? is actually a really random one because I went in to write songs for other people with a guy called Steve Mac and a guy called Johnny McDaid,? he said. ?And we were writing this song, and I was like, ?This would really work for Rihanna.? But then I started singing lyrics like putting ?Van The Man on the jukebox,? and I was like ?She?s not really going to sing that, is she.'?
He also performed an acoustic rendition of "Castle on the Hill," which offers fans an entirely new take on the song only a few hours after digesting the original. Watch:
