!!!

I just caught a clip on Hallmark channel today and cackled at Rose.

como la whore

it's weird because the show started in the 80's, long before all the technology we have today and it still holds up. the writing was that good.

you don't even notice that none of them have a cellphone, or a computer.

it's everything.
:stressed:

it wasn't just comedy there were lots of episodes that dealt with real issues. when Rose thought she had HIV, Blanche and her gay brother. When Dorothy's son married a black woman. Lots of different situations were touched on and done amazingly well.

I don't think the show will ever get old. It's that good.  :gorlonfire:

!!! They really perfected the art of the ensemble sitcom cast.  Single people living at home:  the dunce, the whore, the sarcastic one, and Sophia brought it all together as the mother.  Everyone had a role, and it was used as a model for similar shows later like Living Single, Friends, etc.

If you want to see the inspiration, Mama's Family featured a slightly younger Rose and Blanche, except their roles were reversed.  And legendary Carol Burnett and Vicki Lawrence made that show classic.  :kii:

I've made it my personal business to get both shows on Netflix, to no avail.  :19k:
