QuoteYou take a cultural dress, mark or trait, with all its religious and historical connotations, dilute it, and bring it out for occasions when you want to look ?trendy?.

Say it bitch

QuoteI?m not trying to start a war, but I would just like you all to realize the hypocrisy of seeing someone wearing a Fulani septum ring, rocking a djellaba, painted with Yoruba-like tribal marks, all the while claiming that this is meant to be respectful. It?s a hodgepodge, a juxtaposition, a right mess of regional, ethnic and cultural customs and it screams ignorance and cultural insensitivity.
Bitch

My sisters boyfriends sister wears a fulani nose just because SHE wears one
And they're ITALIAN  :hmph:
I hope it gets caught on something

Vonc2002

I really like some of those African inspired shirts ive seen. Probably gonna get one LOLZ
This is my pass to say WHATEVER tf I wanna say about the mess she releases so I don't wanna hear SHIT! Baby mama is a mess of a song btw

Gilgamesh.

I think its cool to honor our heritage but its a different story when u start playing dress up.

UNless you've done extensive research and know exactly what you're wearing stands for. And even still........it's about respect for culture.

i would never walk around like im str8 from africa or an indian reservation somewhere. at the end of the day we have our own culture and upbringing to be proud of.

but its always good to see ppl taking pride in Africa. i can see why some could be offended though.

Clearly those are comtemporary clothes with an traditional twist and not some religious garbs. I don't mind it cause like this the legacy continues to the next generation. As long as we know where it is from, it is cool in my book.

i think the author is upset because its a trend thats probably gonna crossover to white people sporting the mess :dead:

they made a point about how H&M already sells some mess and soon enough it'll be a full african mess owt in there

I dont see the issue though, but yeah I can see how one is offended

Cause I know disgusted when I see those kpop chinks dress like 2000's Hiphop artist.

I would be fine with it if all the comanies that produce that mess are actual black people.
