And sorry about all the DNA threads guys lolz hope I'm not flooding the board with them. It's just that i've been doing research and its all quite fascinating. Just happened to stumble across this video and found it funny, thought you guys would as well.

Go for it! We should all take advantage of these tools, it will help to eliminate a lot of myths in our community and open our eyes so we don't pass misinformation down the line without documented proof -- and only a picture of your great great great great great grandmother who had high cheekbones and straight hair

I submitted my sample to AncestryDNA....via saliva. They're pretty accurate. It confirmed what I already kinda knew....that my ancestors are mostly from Africa. and that I have Native American ancestors as well. I think that's what was most important for me, because it's so up in the air in our community. All these stories and mess. I took my grandmother's word for it, but I also wanted my DNA mess as well.

Be prepared to find some Euro mess in you because of slavery. I think any black person who takes the test will find at least 5 percent. Minimum. Of course we all identify as black, and anyone who sees most of us will do the same, but knowing your history is always good.

Once my grandmother broke it down for me, I kinda forgot I even saw those percentages. 

And it actually made me sad. And kinda mad, if that makes sense, just to know that something like that exists inside of me and is unremovable. It lowkey pissed me off.

But we shouldn't be surprised. It's almost tradition for us to claim that we're everything but black. Everyone wants to be exotic. But we shouldn't be so hard on ourselves, white people do the same thing -- mostly with Native American heritage though. I just posted a video of a white man who was so upset that the DNA test showed that he had no Native ancestry that he pulled up articles, documents, etc. to disprove a test that HE paid for.

I'm just confused as to how the hell her family would tell her she's Dominican People really just make stuff up and pass it along to latter generations. Thank God for these tools, the cycle can stop now and people can finally begin to unearth their truth.

There are dark skin Dominicans. You do realize Haitians and Dominicans live on the very same island.

I do remember that now that you mention it, the two being very closely related. And I do in fact know of dark skinned Dominicans.
