QuoteR&B chanteuse Tweet returns to radio with a new single, ?Won?t Hurt Me.? The acoustic guitar-driven track is the lead single from her upcoming album, Charlene. Available now for pre-order on iTunes, ?Won?t Hurt Me? will be digitally released via the service on Sept. 21. The single?s music video will also premiere that same week.

?All of the upcoming album?s songs are pages out of my diary,? says Tweet, born Charlene Keys. In the case of ?Won?t Hurt Me,? the song is about a young man who was once a friend but wanted more. ?You can be friends without catching feelings,? explains the singer/songwriter. ?But he did and I didn?t feel the same way. Spending time together doesn?t mean it?s love.?

Charlene, Tweet?s third studio album, is due in early 2016. ?Tweet has always been an exciting artist to watch,? says Phil Thornton, eOne Music?s VP/GM of urban inspirational. ?She?s an artist whose passion and soul you can hear in her voice in every note, whether on records or live onstage.?

Tweet reunited with longtime collaborators and producers Craig Brockman, Nisan Stewart, John ?Jubu? Smith and Charlie Bereal to record the new album. ?It?s me going back to the basics when I fell in love with music as a young Charlene,? says Tweet ?There was church, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye ? It?s food for the spirit and soul. It?s still Tweet but more secure in the woman and artist I am now.?

Also making an appearance on Charlene: friend and mentor Missy Elliott. ?Some things just go together,? says Tweet of working with Elliott over the years. Before her own solo breakthrough in 2002 with hit single "Oops (Oh My)," Tweet contributed vocals to Elliott?s 2001 album Miss E ? So Addictive. ?We sound good together and both respect and inspire each other. She always pushed me to be an artist. It?s a sisterhood that will never be broken.?

Tweet most recently charted with the Simply Tweet EP in 2013, debuting and peaking at No. 16 on R&B Albums and No. 26 on Independent Albums. Her last full-length album to chart was 2005's It's Me Again, her second studio effort. It debuted and peaked at No. 2 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and No. 17 on the Billboard 200.

Debut album Southern Hummingbird also bowed and peaked at No. 2 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and No. 3 on the Billboard 200. The set spun off two top 10 hits on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart: "Oops (Oh My)," which spent three weeks at No. 1, and "Call Me" (No. 9 peak). Southern Hummingbird has sold 897,000, according to Nielsen Music.

You better have it all together this go round, Tweet! I'm excited.

Southern Hummingbird is definitely platinum in my opinion tho.
Tweet is very accomplished and I wish everybody knew that

This could be her chance for a major comeback, if anybody can save this dry RnB/Soul market its Charlene

That bothers me too,

We've had singled with no alber before, Anymore and My Dear were supposed to lead Love, Tweet

She HAS to stop over planning and put a body of work out and commit!

Bentley!

Where's Rome?

I'm hoping she goes in the lane of C4Eva

Something soft and sultry

Tweet is basically the next Sade, she needs to be marketed as such this time around.
The hip hop infusion was very cute for SH, but ppl didn't believe it in IMA and I know Charlene didn't WANT to put that much hip hop into it.

This is definitely something big for her tho

Her people have this old school  music industry mentality that you have to promote to see how it performs than release the album. It's totally not like that anymore and it will only hurt her unless she's going to release a 2nd single around Christmas time.

This guitar kinda reminds me of Tracy Chapman. I could definitely see her giving a Sade meets Tracy Chapman type mess. I would live.

It would be great if she branched out and worked with artists from different genres. She & John Mayer would work very well together. I think their styles would mesh so well.

Right and it's like, for her market there's limited promo you can do anyway

You're not Miley or Nicki

A simple cheap promo package is fine :dead:

All she needs to do is tour all over the U.S.
Small venues, house of blues and etc.

!!!!!!!!
You see it too!

From the secon alberm Charlene should've always been marketed as the black Norah or Alanis

She could've had HUGE eras in her career by now.
And for live performances, perch her onstage with John or Alicia

Like... niggers always wanna infuse some hip hop into stuff

Let Tweet be Tweet this time
I NEED this album so bad
:stressed:
