This is something we've been discussing on our podcast but I'd love to hear your opinion on this...

Let's say there was a hall of fame for r&b artists based on longevity, success and quality..Which aritsts would be inducted:

D'Angelo
Trey Songz
Keith Sweat
Alicia Keys
Tyrese
Aaliyah
Ne-Yo
Dru Hill
Eryka Badu

I'd say off the top of my head Sade, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Toni Braxton, Anita Baker, Whitney Houston, R. Kelly, Mariah Carey, Aaliyah, Janet, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, D'angelo, Brandy, Rihanna (if she counts as R&B). Possible maybe's would include John Legend, Maxwell, Ashanti (strictly for her billboard records/early sales), and couple of others. Can't think right now.

This is cute tho. I like concept of this idea.

That would be really dope, It means more to me if we appreciate our own people. For black artists to get that in the white owned institutions like this they have to have some tremendous success or other factor that they don't hold their white artists to.

The artists from the last few decades who I'm familiar with that I think is
Mary J B
Mariah Carey
Beyonce
Lauryn Hill
Janet Jackson
Toni Braxton
Brandy
Aaliyah
TLC
Destiny Child
SWV

Forgot the guys lol
Usher
Ne-yo(is maybe we'll see in about 5 years?)
Chris Brown (Same as Ne-yo. But a stronger possibility)
Genuine??
Bobby Brown
R. Kelly

Everybody is missing something to me and maybe as time goes on, plenty more will be added as we see how their music ages and their influence grows.

Don't come for the hall:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Rock_and_Roll_Hall_of_Fame_inductees

Over 68 black acts have been inducted.

Don't get jaded because they don't see it for Whitney and Janet. The hall has done right by a lot of artists who never even won a competitive Grammy.
