Looking back, R&B from 2000 to 2007 was pretty diverse. Producers like Scott Storch, Timbaland, Rich Harrison and Rodney really showcased their creativity and barely chased trends.

For whatever reason, today's producers try to achieve the exact same sound. I really don't understand the appeal of these late ass trap beats and stupid voice effects.

and quite frankly, I don't think most urban listeners are ready to move on from this trap beats and flows. It's so easy to make a current standard r&b and hip-hop song nowadays.

A lot of ppl have been going up for it, but I think he wanted a gimmick era
And this new swagged out vocal delivery of his can be annoying at times
